Christantus Uche Ignites Comfortable Palace Win at Shelbourne.
Despite embarking on their maiden European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Missing key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually guarantees them a place in the Conference League playoffs.
A further three points in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct passage to the last 16, particularly following a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Opportunity
This occasion offered a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.
The Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season were outmatched even for a largely second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple tap-in.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
